Church School 

Church School is a fantastic start to the Sunday morning worship service.  Church School begins promptly at 9:00 am each Sunday Morning.  During this part of the worship service, children and adults are actively engaged in learning spiritual principles taught through spirit-led instructors and materials.  The Church School Department utilizes Power Point presentations, illustrations, practical points, and question & answer to teach Bible Lessons.

Each class has their own unique name of distinction given to them by the Spirit of the Lord. The classes are as follows:
Adult Class: "Triple S" Saints (Saved, Sanctified, and Serving), 
Senior/Intermediate class: "TBC 24/7" (True Believers in Christ)
Junior/Primaries: "S.O.W." (Seekers of the Word)
Beginners: "The King's Kids"

Church School is followed by a brief question and answer period, which allows the children and adults to demonstrate their understanding of the spiritual truths revealed in the Bible Lessons. We are excited about Church School and we look forward to your presence.

The Benevolent Fund Program

We are a loving committee that reaches out not only to members of the church but to members of the community!  We have been able to provide financial assistance, hot meals, and holiday food baskets to those in need.  We are also supporters for the Greater Birmingham Ministries.  God has truly blessed us and we always look forward to blessing others.

The Media Ministry

The Media Ministry is a ministry that handles film & photography, the sound system for worship service, publication of the weekly program, and website development!  The Media Ministry also records the worship service and special events on CD, which are available for purchase! 

Praise Dance Ministry

The Praise Dance Ministry entails the art of praise and worship through artistic  movement and dance. There are currently two age groups: The youth are known as, "The Angels of Glory," with members between the ages of 4 and 17.  The adult group encompasses women from age 18 and up, and are known as, "The Daughters of Distinction."  There are times when these groups will minister together and this combination group is known as, "Joyful Praise." The ministry is open to receiving any young boys and men that are open to praising the Lord through dance as David did. 

Young People Department (YPD)

YPD is a ministry that caters to the needs of the youth!  We plan activities to keep the youth involved in the life of the church.  Along with the Christian Education Department, we set aside a special time during worship service for youth participation.  Members as young as 2 years old stand before the congregation and recite scriptures, which truly warms our hearts!  We also plan recreational activities where everyone takes part!

Women’s Bible Study & Fellowship

The Women's Bible Study and Fellowship (WBS/F) emerged from the monthly meeting of the Women's Missionary Society (WMS) of Saint Stephen AME Church.  The bible based teachings are designed to guide us into all truth with regards to our relationship with God, ourselves and with others. We have received teachings on healing for the wounded heart, forgiveness and renewing the mind.  God is now guiding us in a study on the empowerment of prayer, praise and intercession. An open invitation is extended to all women, to join this spirit-filled ministry.  You will be blessed!  

The Doorkeepers’ Ministry

The Doorkeepers’ Ministry is a ministry of ushers and greeters that provides an inviting setting for the congregation. We are attentive to the needs of the people as well as the Pastor, by providing needed materials and other services that may be required doing the worship service. The ministry is available for any special church functions, which may require our services. The smiles of the ushers and greeters say, “We are honored to serve you as doorkeepers in the house of our God.”
